Casey’s owner, Rebecca Ehalt, has just returned from two years working in Europe. Her dog Casey remained behind with Rebecca’s family.

When Casey was finally reunited with Rebecca, the dog faints from all the excitement. It’s a heartwarming example of loyalty from man’s best friend.

Rebecca did take Casey, and the video of her reunion with her loyal pal, to her vet who gave them the “all-clear” that Casey was perfectly fine. See their happy encounter here:

While it was a two year absence, Rebecca does remind everyone on the video’s page that although she returned after 2 years, “in fairness [it] is 14 years in dog years.”

Windermere Pet Sitter Warns: P&G Pet Food Recall

Pet Food Recall

The Procter & Gamble Company has voluntarily recalled specific lots of dry pet food because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. These lots were distributed in the United States and represent roughly one-tenth of one percent (0.1%) of annual production. No Salmonella-related illnesses have been reported to date in association with these product lots.

The effected brands include both IAMS and Eukanuba dog and cat foods.

Salmonella can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.

Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.

Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.
